Short answer: Smart IPTV (often written SIPTV) is a long-running player app for smart TVs and some streaming devices. It has no channels of its own. You open the app, note the MAC address or device ID it shows, then upload your provider’s playlist on the developer’s website, siptv.app, and restart the app. Continued use needs a one-time activation per TV, which the developer’s site listed at 5.49 EUR in October 2026. Do not pay for activation until you have a working playlist to use with it.
What Smart IPTV is (and why people confuse the name)
“Smart IPTV” is both a generic phrase and the name of one specific app. Search results mix them up: Microsoft Store and Google Play list several unrelated players with “Smart IPTV” in their names. This guide covers the app run from siptv.app, which publishes instructions for LG and Samsung smart TVs, Android TV and Amazon Fire TV, and MAG set-top boxes.
The developer’s FAQ is blunt about what the app is: it states the application does not include any channels, and the activation page says not to pay if you have no channels to use with it. That is a helpful line to remember when a seller offers “Smart IPTV with channels”. The app and the channels are always two separate things.
Before you start: what you need
- A playlist from your provider. Smart IPTV works with an M3U playlist link. If your provider gave you an Xtream-style login (server, username, password), ask them for the M3U version, or read Xtream Codes vs M3U explained.
- The TV connected to the internet. Decide now whether you will use Wi-Fi or Ethernet, for a reason explained below.
- A phone or computer to open the upload page. Typing a playlist URL with a TV remote is not something anyone should have to do.
Setting up Smart IPTV, step by step
- Install the app from your TV’s app store. On Samsung and LG, search the store for “Smart IPTV”. Availability in TV stores has changed over the years and depends on the model, so if it is not listed, jump to “If the app is not in your TV’s store” below.
- Open the app and note the identifier. The start screen shows a MAC address or, on some systems, a device ID. Take a photo of it.
- On your phone or computer, open the upload page at siptv.app/mylist. Enter the MAC or device ID exactly as shown.
- Add your playlist. Paste the M3U link into the URL field. If your provider gave you a guide (EPG) link, add it in the EPG field and pick the right EPG country so listings match the channel language.
- Leave “Save online” unticked unless you have a problem. The upload page says to use it only if the playlist fails to load on the TV because of low memory.
- Send the playlist, then restart the app on the TV. Close it fully and reopen it. Your channel groups should appear after a short wait.
- Lock your MAC or device ID in the app’s settings. The upload page recommends this to stop a third party from resetting your playlist.
Activation: what you pay and when
When we checked the activation page in October 2026, it listed a one-time fee of 5.49 EUR for each TV or device, payable by card, PayPal or several cryptocurrencies. A few things to know before paying:
- It is per device. Two TVs need two activations, even with the same playlist.
- It pays the app developer, not your provider. It buys you the player, not anything to watch.
- Test first. Make sure the playlist loads and plays well on your TV before you activate. The developer’s own advice is not to pay if you do not have channels to use.
The fee is in euros, so your card may add a currency conversion charge. Check the activation page for the current price on the day you pay.
The MAC address trap, and how to avoid it
This is the single most common Smart IPTV headache. The developer’s FAQ explains that each TV has two MAC addresses, one for Wi-Fi and one for Ethernet. If you upload the playlist while the TV is on Wi-Fi and later plug in a cable, the app may show the other MAC and an empty list. Pick one connection type before you start, ideally Ethernet if the router is close, and stay with it. If you must switch, upload the playlist to the second MAC as well.
Newer systems complicate this a little. According to the FAQ, Android 13 and later and Play Store installs cannot read the MAC address, so the app uses a device ID instead; avoid factory resets, which can change it. On LG webOS, app version 3.0.0 and later uses only the device ID, which activates automatically if that TV was activated before.
If this happens, do this
- “Check playlist URL” or the playlist will not load. Confirm the M3U link is complete and that your subscription is active. The FAQ suggests powering the TV off at the wall for about a minute. Very large playlists can also fail on TVs with little storage; ask your provider whether a smaller list (fewer groups) is available.
- The playlist disappears after a restart. Re-upload it with “Save online” ticked, which the FAQ suggests for exactly this case.
- The guide is empty or wrong. Make sure the EPG link and EPG country are set, then check the TV’s own time zone. Our EPG fix guide covers the rest.
- Some channels play, others show an error. The FAQ points out that TVs only play the video formats they support. If certain channels never work on the TV but do on a phone, the TV’s decoder is the limit, and a streaming device is the fix.
- Everything buffers. Not an app problem. See how to fix IPTV buffering, or check whether the service is down with our five-minute check.
Catch-up and timeshift
Smart IPTV can play past programmes from the guide when the provider’s playlist is set up for it; the developer’s instructions describe archive support of up to 15 days back. Whether you get catch-up on a given channel depends entirely on the provider and the channel, so test it during a trial if it matters to you.
If the app is not in your TV’s store
Smart TV app stores vary by brand, model year and region. If Smart IPTV is missing on your TV, you have three good options:
- Try another player in the TV’s store. Our Samsung Tizen and LG webOS guide explains what to expect by model year, and the IBO Player Pro guide covers a player with a similar upload-by-website setup.
- Add a streaming device. A Fire TV Stick or a Google TV box opens up many more players and usually plays more formats than a TV’s built-in system. See how to watch IPTV on any TV.
- Avoid unofficial install methods on the TV itself. They tend to break with firmware updates and can expose the TV to unknown software.
For Samsung owners specifically, how to install IPTV on a Samsung smart TV walks through the full process with other players.

Frequently asked questions
Is Smart IPTV free?
The app is free to install. Continued use requires a one-time activation per TV or device; the developer’s activation page listed 5.49 EUR in October 2026. The fee pays for the app only, not for any channels.
Does Smart IPTV come with channels?
No. The developer states the app does not include any channels. You upload a playlist from a provider of your choice. Anyone selling Smart IPTV with channels included is a separate seller, not the app developer.
How do I upload a playlist to Smart IPTV?
Open the app and note the MAC address or device ID. On a phone or computer, go to siptv.app/mylist, enter that identifier, paste your M3U link, add an EPG link if you have one, and send it. Then restart the app on the TV.
Why is Smart IPTV showing an empty channel list?
Often the TV switched between Wi-Fi and Ethernet, which changes the MAC address the app uses. Upload the playlist to the MAC now shown, or switch back to the original connection. Also confirm your subscription is active and the link is complete.
Does Smart IPTV work on Samsung and LG TVs?
The developer publishes instructions for both, plus Android TV, Fire TV and MAG boxes. Whether the app appears in your TV’s store depends on the model and region. If it is missing, use another player or add a streaming device.
Is Smart IPTV legal?
Yes, it is a media player. Whether a playlist you load into it is lawful depends on whether the provider holds the rights to the content it distributes.
