IBO Player Pro has no channels of its own. Here is how to add your playlist, what activation costs and pays for, and what to do when it will not load.

Short answer: IBO Player Pro is a media player app. It does not come with any channels. You install it on your TV or streaming device, note the MAC address (or device ID) and device key it shows on screen, then add your provider’s playlist through the developer’s website from a phone or computer. After a free trial, the app asks for a one-time activation per device. Setup takes about ten minutes once you have your login details in hand.

What IBO Player Pro is, and what it is not

IBO Player Pro belongs to a family of “bring your own playlist” players. It reads a playlist you supply, in M3U format or as an Xtream-style login, and turns it into a channel list, a guide and on-demand sections. The developer is explicit about this on the App Store listing: the app includes no channels or content lists, users supply their own playlist and are responsible for it, and the app has no affiliation with third-party providers.

That matters for two reasons. First, paying for IBO Player Pro does not give you anything to watch; you still need a subscription from a provider. Second, anyone offering “IBO Player with channels included” is not the app developer, and you should treat that offer with the same caution as any unknown seller.

A warning about similar names

Several apps with nearly identical names exist: IBO Player, IBO Player Pro and IBO Pro Player among them, from different developers, each with its own website. The playlist portal for one does not work with another. The safest rule is simple: use the web address the app itself shows on its start screen, and pay only inside your device’s app store or on that same site.

Which devices can run it

The App Store version lists iPhone and iPad, Apple TV (tvOS 16.6 or later) and Apple silicon Macs. Versions of IBO-branded players also appear in other TV app stores, and availability changes by device and region, so search your TV’s own store before you plan around it.

Where to look for IBO Player Pro
Device Where to install Notes
Apple TV, iPhone, iPad App Store Listed with a free trial and an in-app activation purchase
Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) TVs The TV’s own app store Check by model year; see our Tizen and webOS app guide
Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV The device’s app store If you cannot find it, other well-supported players exist for these devices

If you are on Apple TV and still choosing an app, our comparison of the best IPTV apps for Apple TV covers IBO alongside the alternatives. On Fire TV, start with the best IPTV apps for Firestick.

Before you start: what to have ready

  • Your login from the provider. Either an M3U link (one long URL) or an Xtream-style set of three values: server URL, username and password. If you are not sure which you have, read Xtream Codes vs M3U explained.
  • A phone or computer. You add the playlist on a website, not with the TV remote, which is a relief with long URLs.
  • The TV connected to the internet, ideally by Ethernet if the router is close.

Setting up IBO Player Pro, step by step

  1. Install the app from your device’s store and open it.
  2. Write down the identifiers on the start screen. Most apps in this family show a MAC address or device ID and a device key, along with the website address where you manage playlists. Take a photo of the screen so you do not mistype a character.
  3. On your phone or computer, open the website the app shows. On the Apple version, the developer’s listing points to its device login page. Enter the MAC address (or device ID) and device key exactly as they appear.
  4. Add your playlist. Choose the option for an M3U URL or for Xtream details, give the playlist a name you will recognize, and paste in the details from your provider. Include http:// or https:// and any port number in the server address.
  5. If the portal offers a PIN or a lock for your device, set it. This stops anyone else who learns your MAC address from changing your playlist.
  6. Return to the TV and reload. Close and reopen the app, or use its refresh option. The channel groups should appear after a short wait; a large list can take a minute the first time.
  7. Test before you tidy up. Play two or three live channels for a few minutes each, then one movie, before you start arranging favourites.

Trial and activation: how the payment works

The App Store listing describes a free seven-day trial for new users and lists a one-time “Activation” in-app purchase. When we checked in October 2026, the listing showed that purchase at US$5.99 in the United States store; the price in the Canadian store can differ, so read what your store shows. Two practical points:

  • Activation is per device. A second TV usually needs its own activation, even with the same playlist.
  • Activation pays the app developer, not your provider. It does not include channels, and it does not extend or replace your IPTV subscription. Your provider cannot refund it, and the developer cannot fix a provider’s channels.

Use the trial to confirm the app suits your device before paying. If it feels slow or the guide looks wrong on your TV, try another player during the trial rather than after.

Settings worth changing after it works

Guide time

If the program guide is an hour or more off, check the time zone on the TV or device first, then any time offset setting inside the app. Canada spans six time zones, and a device set to the wrong one shifts every listing. Our EPG guide explained covers why this happens.

Player engine

The listing mentions a built-in VLC player. If a channel stutters or shows a black picture with sound, switching the playback engine in settings is a quick test before you blame the stream.

Subtitles and audio language

For movies and series, the app supports language and subtitle selection. For French-speaking households, check the audio track menu on a few titles during the trial; whether a French track exists depends on the source, not on the app.

If this happens, do this

  • The playlist will not load. Recheck the URL character by character on the website, including the port. Make sure your subscription is active. Then reload the app.
  • The app says the device is not activated. The trial has ended, or the activation was bought on a different device or under a different identifier. Confirm the MAC or device ID on screen matches the one used for payment.
  • The MAC address changed. Some TVs have one MAC for Wi-Fi and another for Ethernet, and some newer systems show a device ID instead. Switching between cable and Wi-Fi can make the app show a different identifier. Pick one connection type and stay on it, or add the playlist to both identifiers.
  • Channels load but the guide is empty. Add the guide (EPG) link your provider supplies, if the portal has a field for it, or follow EPG not loading.
  • Everything buffers. That is a network or source issue, not an app setting. See how to fix IPTV buffering, or run the quick check in Is IPTV down right now?

When another player is the better choice

IBO Player Pro is a reasonable choice on Apple TV and smart TVs where the app store is limited. On Android TV and Fire TV, players such as TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro are more widely used and better documented; see the TiviMate setup guide and the IPTV Smarters Pro guide. On Samsung and LG TVs, the Smart IPTV app guide covers a long-running alternative with a similar upload-by-website model. For a broader view across devices, read the best IPTV player for your TV.

Installing and paying safely

  • Install only from your device’s official app store.
  • Pay for activation only inside the store or on the site the app itself displays.
  • Never send your MAC address and device key to a stranger who offers to “set it up” for you; together they let someone change your playlist.
  • If a seller insists on payment by gift card or a method with no buyer protection, walk away. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre describes common subscription traps.

Frequently asked questions

Is IBO Player Pro free?

The app is free to download and, on the App Store, includes a free seven-day trial for new users. After the trial, it asks for a one-time activation purchase per device. That payment goes to the app developer and does not include any channels.

Does IBO Player Pro come with channels?

No. The developer states the app contains no channels or content lists. You add a playlist or Xtream login from a provider you choose. Anyone selling IBO Player Pro bundled with channels is not the developer.

How do I add a playlist to IBO Player Pro?

Open the app and note the MAC address or device ID and the device key on the start screen. On a phone or computer, go to the website the app shows, sign in with those two values, and add your M3U link or Xtream details. Then restart the app on the TV.

Why is IBO Player Pro not loading my playlist?

Usually a typo in the URL, a missing port number, an expired subscription, or a playlist added to a different MAC address than the one on screen. Recheck each, then reload the app. If the channels load but buffer, the cause is the network or the source.

Can I use IBO Player Pro on a Samsung or LG TV?

IBO-branded players appear in some smart TV app stores, but availability depends on the TV’s model year and region. Search your TV’s store first. If it is not there, a streaming device such as a Fire TV Stick or a Google TV box gives you more player choices.

Is IBO Player Pro legal?

Yes, the app is a media player and is sold through official app stores. Whether a particular playlist is authorized depends on where its content comes from and whether that provider holds the rights, not on the player.
