HBO’s Harry Potter series premieres on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2026. The first season adapts Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone over eight episodes, with a new young cast and a returning-to-the-books approach the films never had room for. The one question Canadian fans keep asking is where it will stream here. This is what is confirmed, and what is not yet.

Where will the Harry Potter series stream in Canada?
Not officially announced yet. Here is what is known:
- HBO Max is not available in Canada. Canada is not on HBO Max’s list of launched regions.
- Crave is the Canadian home of HBO. HBO and HBO Max programming streams in Canada on Bell Media’s Crave, and Bell has said Warner Bros. content will stay on Crave for the foreseeable future, even as Paramount moves to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.
- Nothing is final until Crave or HBO confirms it. HBO’s own announcement speaks of HBO Max “where available” and does not name a Canadian partner. The CBC has reported that HBO’s long-term future on Crave is uncertain after the merger.
The most likely outcome, based on how every major HBO series has reached Canada so far, is a Crave release on or close to the US premiere. We will update this story when Bell Media or HBO confirms the Canadian platform and time. Bell Media publishes a monthly Crave lineup, and the December edition is the place to watch.
A Christmas Day premiere at home
Christmas Day is one of the busiest nights of the year for home internet, with new devices being set up and everyone streaming at once. A little preparation helps:
- Set up new TVs and streaming sticks before the 25th. App updates and sign-ins take longer than you expect. Our guide to getting any TV streaming-ready covers the basics.
- Give the main TV a wired connection if guests are also on your Wi-Fi. See Wi-Fi vs Ethernet.
- Younger viewers in the house? Separate profiles and a parental PIN keep a family TV tidy. Our parental controls guide explains the layers.
